Two of DJ Hype’s heaviest hitters, Original Sin and Taxman, take to the mixing desk on the latest Playaz EP, already kicking up a storm in clubs across the globe.
While the first half epitomises the dancefloor drum & bass sound these two are known for, the second portion of the EP is dedicated to an excursion into 140bpm dubstep territory.
‘Casino’ gets straight into the action with a tense and brooding atmosphere from the off. Spoken word samples litter the intro before a trademark Taxman drum roll heralds an immense drop complete with bouncing bass combinations.
Original Sin pulls the title track out of the bag with some intense Reese bass edits and more switches than an electrician’s toolbox. Watch your bassbins as this one moves and changes!
Kicking off the dubstep half and once again Original Sin pulls something huge out of the production bag. Pairing ’80s styles with filthy 2010 dubstep, he brings something unique to the party that’s been getting the likes of Caspa, Rusko and Mistajam hot under the collar.
Last, but by no means least, Taxman rounds off the EP with ‘Like This’, another massive slab of dubstep that’s been featuring in the sets of Jaguar Skills, Skream and the Scratch Perverts.
